The Distinguished Service Award is one of Muskingum University’s highest alumni honors, sponsored by the Muskingum University Alumni Council. It is designed to recognize and honor alumni who have distinguished themselves through exceptional professional achievement and exemplary service to society—in ways that reflect positively on the Muskingum community and the broader world.
Who is eligible? Any living Muskingum graduate or former student is eligible for nomination. These individuals may be nominated by fellow alumni, former classmates, faculty, staff, friends, or family—and self-nominations are welcome.
What the committee looks for: The selection committee seeks nominees whose lives and careers exemplify the values Muskingum fosters in its students. Strong candidates typically demonstrate:

Positive impact on society — A track record of work or civic engagement that has improved lives, strengthened communities, or advanced important causes.
Reflection of Muskingum’s values — Actions and character that embody the spirit of service, leadership, integrity, and dedication that Muskies carry with them beyond campus.
